271 Holladay Drive, Aurora - Objection to New 6-Storey / 155 unit Apartment Building

RE: Residents’ Objection to the construction of a 6-storey / 155 unit Residential Apartment Building being proposed to built at 271 Holladay Drive.
Reason for objections:
- Aurora is a small suburban community that attracts families looking to escape the density of Toronto, and the construction of such an unusually large and tall 155 unit apartment building at the base of this quiet cul-de-sac goes against the entire character of this wonderful neighborhood, with all local residents engaged so far being 100% against it
- A 6-storey tall (26 metre) apartment building on such a small site will block sunlight and obscure the views of all homes in the neighborhood, resulting in decreased property values and lack of privacy - especially for the newly built townhomes directly adjacent to the proposed site
- Traffic and safety of pedestrians are a major area of concern, as the increased traffic surge will negatively impact the safety of all residents (especially children)
- The addition of 155 new families will add to the existing overcapacity at local schools that are already experiencing issues
- Destruction of local wildlife habitat, as wildlife has been observed in the area, and further development will destroy their habitat
- The 6 & 7 storey tall Meadows of Aurora Senior Buildings (located at and near 440 - 500 William Graham Dr.) has been an eyesore for the entire subdivision surrounding it, and residents do not want to see the same mistake made again, especially adjacent to a much smaller neighborhood that only has one access point in / out.
The residents of Aurora, and specifically the residents located on the North West corner of Leslie and Wellington STRONLY urge Aurora Town Council to disapprove of this project, and would instead like to see the land use permitted only for the construction of low-rise townhomes or single family homes, or shared greenspace amenities for all residents to use.
Furthermore, from recent meetings and discussions with neighbors, our opinions are shared by many who have not yet managed to attend meetings or write letters and emails.
Thank you for your continued service and support of our communities.
Best regards,
The Neighborhood connected to Holladay Drive
(North West Corner of Leslie and Wellington)
