Together we can stop scammers on social media sites

The Issue

Myself and another lady from Northern Ireland was scammed attempting to purchase the same motorhome, Ebay had been alerted three times by the owner and possibly a fourth time by someone who actually spotted the scam.

Ebay was alerted the last time on 27th April at 9.17 am but did not remove the advert until Friday the 28th April at 9.30pm this enabling the scammers to steal £16,500 between the two of us.

We have since become Ebay police then promoting ourselves to Ebay detectives as we found and reported hundreds of scams often showing multiple people selling the same vehicle well scam.

Ebay do not remove or suspend them and only direct you to UK goverment sites and UK action fraud, they hold no responsibility thrmselves even though had they removed this advert we both would not have been scammed.

We took it to the Liverpool Echo paper as there are so many scams and it went in to other local paper online, we also were featured on This Morning the to raise awarness to others.

The point being without the banks giving these scammers multiple bank cards they would not be able to add a fake motor home as I myself tried to make an advert which was extremely easy to port photos and pay £15 with your bank details, the  fake seller/ scammer can then put mobile phone numbers on it and there you have a fake advert.

Ebay need to be taking more responsibility in their part here as if they suspended or removed the advert immediately until prove of ownership is shown then it would disable the scam immediately.

The goverment need to intervene as these social sites are being allowed to trade in the UK so need to be protecting people not enabling it.

The banks need to be do hard searches on people and stop large amounts of money coming quickly in and out as this never used to happen years ago you waited three days for it to clear.

It questions Ebay why when some of these scams are multiple times advertised with different sellers, why they do not remove them?  is it possible they are benefitting?

Why would they not prevent this by removing immediately and dont.

The trail of financial and emotional destruction this causes to muliple people right down to the address they put for pick up, to unsuspecting home owners who have to deal with upset angry people going to pick up a motorhome thats not there.

Dont listen to sob storys or let someone pressure you saying someone else wants it as if its meant to be it will happen/ Never reply to mobile numbers/ Do vehicle checks/ look for watermark on log book/ Do vehicle google searches, you can search a vehicles MOT history etc.

Lets stop these scammers and the trail of heartbreak and destruction they cause, the stress of the financial and emotional side can cause death by heart attack or suicide, the banks need to stop such fast incoming and quickly outgoing again large sums of money.

Lets together get the goverment to step in and STOP THIS NOW!
