The second speaker at Monday's public meeting was Trevor Lister, Scientist, Engineer, and Teacher who discussed the subject of 'ash' produced by Waste to Energy plants and the issues around disposing of or storing it to minimize the risk of contamination and leaching. The public meeting was in response to Renew Energy's proposal to import 330,000 tonnes p.a. of waste into Westland for incineration for 30 years.
