To Vans: Convince skaters like Steve Caballero to drop Charlie Kirk association

To Vans: Convince skaters like Steve Caballero to drop Charlie Kirk association
The Issue
Steve Caballero, Lance Mountain, Christian Hosoi and several others have been instrumental in shaping the extreme sport that is skateboarding. They have displayed an approachable, grassroots public image and are openly Christian who aren't shy about expressing their faith in Jesus.
The real problem manifested in 2025 when they have made and/or liked posts supportive of the slain far-right activist Charlie Kirk, whose history of inflammatory and discriminating rhetoric has caused deep division in America and elsewhere, posting hagiographic messages about how Jesus supposedly saved their lives, cynically glossing over the seedier aspects of Mr. Kirk's life in favour of the "Christian" public image he cultivated. While it is clearly sick and disgusting to gloat over the slaying of a person or group - regardless of their ideology or platform, we should not whitewash their sins and forget that they have serious issues to answer for either.
We would like you to pay close attention to Mr. Caballero, Mr. Mountain and Mr. Hosoi, among many others, to be accountable for their thoughts, words and deeds, especially as Mr. Kirk's political stance runs contrary to the values expressed by your skate company which promotes inclusion, diversity and a safe space for everyone to shred freely.
Again I would like to iterate that this is not a justification for the murder of Mr. Kirk, but rather a call for a more careful reassessment and to address the issues that are glossed over because of this senseless tragedy, such as hunger, poverty, conflict and injustice. It is wrong to spit on the grave of even a reviled man, but it is also wrong to shove their dirt under the rug and pretend that it never happened.
