When the recreational sector introduce fingerlings into a river, then the sport fishing groups like FCFA believe the fish belong to the recreational sector. Then when the commercial sector introduce fingerlings into a river FCFA claim the fish belong to the recreational sector. It looks like different rules apply to the community's fishermen every time. Wide Bay Wildcatch 4 hrs · An inconvient truth that no doubt will be removed from the Fraser Coast Fishing Alliance FB in regards to barramundi in the Mary River , Yes the very river that the Commercial Fishermen of this region done groundbreaking barrumundi restocking all those years ago and contributed to subsequent fingerling stocking - hmmmm but according the FCFA- this barramundi should not be available to the commercial sector to share with the wider community. BUT FCFA knew that and yet still continue to spread FAKE NEWS.. The FCRA FB page post by Grant Robinson post " I know effort effectiveness can confound catch per unit effort by showing increasing catch per unit effort while stocks are actually, in reality declining. Is this the case? Often the use of new technology helps improve CPUE while stocks are actually declining. However, I doubt that technology implementation over the last ten years has brought about the four fold increase in CPUE that we see here for both threadfin and barra. Got to suggest that these two stocks are healthy. Then why can't the tourist industry sell that story?" .
