Here's some more press. This mother had an amazing story...her baby couldn't latch on to the breast (even after getting a tongue tie released) but Sheryl sought help, pumped to protect supply and persisted. Lucy finally took to the breast (with a nipple shield) at the age of three weeks and she eventually weaned from a nipple shield around seven months of age. Sheryl points out that it was very tricky to leave the house with a newborn baby, especially while pumping every three hours. It was important to her that she could access in home help. Unfortunately at present, our health care system doesn't have the time or resources to meets the needs of breastfeeding mothers.
If you would like to help with the raise awareness of the petition you could use some of the articles I have shared to approach other journalists. Breastfeeding is a hot topic at the moment with the threat to the Australian Breastfeeding Association's helpline. Its a great opportunity to talk about other ways of helping mothers through - what can be - a challenging time.
