Such a great show of support for a subsidised lactation service for ALL mothers! We need more families on board too, as they are the ones who will benefit in the future. You may have also heard that funding to the Australian Breastfeeding Association is under threat (see attached article). The helpline is such an important service that is currently available for all mothers and helps to increase breastfeeding rates. Lets hope the Government values it enough to fund its future. For those who have experienced breastfeeding problems, you will know that not all problems can be solved over the phone. We need all these support systems in place to enable mothers to continue breastfeeding. Ps. Lets hope the rumours of a privatised Medicare system are simply that - rumours. This wouldn't bode well for a universal health care system.
