Hello neighbors, given some of the comments to "do something" I thought I would post another quick update. Bottom-line, the purpose of this petition was a call-to-action to police to do something BUT what we have found is that only about 5% of package thefts are actually being reported by neighbors, so its neighbors who don't report that are actually helping the criminals. YOU need to hold your neighbors accountable and make sure they report. If you do not report, Police can't do anything about our shared community issues so... 1. YOU need to take action and report the crime or theft and there are several ways YOU can do that. No one else is going to report the crime for you. 2. We have put together a simple site here - http://hogoki.com/. This site was created to be both informational AND to help create better visibility on how to report and also links back to Hayward PD reporting forms. I will post stickers in the neighborhood late next week to help market this approach. 3. The site is available in several languages to support our diverse community 4. East Bay Times interview will take place today 12.29.2017 to help create more visibility If you want something done about the crime and theft here, don't complain and do nothing, take action and report the crime! Everything is data driven these days and therefore the data (reporting) will support enhanced visibility and response by police within our community. If you want something done, you also need to be a part of the solution and REPORT the crime or theft.
