Late last night, the Santa Monica City Council voted 5-0 in favor of the motion to direct staff to investigate divestment from Wells Fargo. Thank you to everyone who signed and shared this petition, as well as the speakers, many of them Indigenous, who spent long hours in the council chambers waiting speak. This is a great step towards defunding DAPL – please continue to divest your own funds from the big banks involved in DAPL and push your cities to do so as well.
