Blomeley thinks this is a done deal, well it isn't and the fight has just begun!
The decision was made without the full and proper consultation of the 63,086 residents of Clarence of which 49,009 were eligible to vote.
Myself and many others object to giving away prime PUBLIC LAND to a multi-million dollar corporation – the AFL for the ridiculous unheard of amount of $1.00. How does this benefit the resident of Clarence? It does not!
The survey which was not publicly published, nor posted out to every dwelling (26,000) only received 959 responses, of which I was one, so I fail to see how this was a fair and legal survey.
Unless CCC have been deaf and blind over the last few weeks, many residents want a chance to vote on this decision.
A quote from an email I received from Blomeley: Our proposal was the result of a significant amount of work by council staff, hours of stakeholder discussions and extensive community consultation.
My questions is: Who are the stakeholders and what staff?
Ratepayers can afford the upkeep of this AFL training centre, but are denied basic council rubbish removal. We no longer have a hard waste collection. Why?
I urge everyone to continue to share the petition.
