We are delighted to update you that the decision on the application was published last week and was refused. This means that the building will not be demolished. The officer's report notes this petition and objections from the Victorian Society and Save Britain's heritage. Many other reasons for rejecting it were given. The full report and decision notice can be downloaded from:
While we have saved the building from demolition with the refusal of this application, we must turn our attention to securing the building's long term future. An application has been made to Historic England to list the building but this may take sometime. We are considering approaching the conservation officer who commented in the report: "The building is of an equivalent status in terms of its design and local landmark status to those buildings on Wycombe's Local List." and we believe it should be added to the local list without further delay.
We will post any further updates as they occur. If anyone has any viable suggestions for the long term use of the building please contact us.
Finally, many thanks for signing this petition. Your support for it has contributed to saving this important local landmark!!!
