Looming council elections 2024

These council elections are interesting why because we seem to be getting a vanilla description of what a candidate thinks we want to hear and then nothing at all from the dummies!

Personally I find this sad as when you read other LGA candidates statements or fb posts you see how much they have engaged with their community and REALLY want to make a difference!!

Like the Frankston candidate who has walked the streets of the Frankston Acitivity centre and physically photographed all 120 empty shops and retail opportunities!! Dandenong had 80 empty shops in recent times.

Or the local community centre  in another LGA who have engaged with all of the candidates and are now posting who they believe have the qualities to be a good Cr to work for the respective council wards .

Keysborough Ward is wide open now the incumbent Cr has stepped down and its the same with Keysborough South ward where the incumbent is challenging in her own ward seat. These wards are on the green wedge precinct! 

"Families belong at home not in the council chambers"...we have 3 family / alliance groups standing candidates in this 2024 election  .. if they all got voted in that would be 9 votes out of the possible 11 votes on any given matter . The $130K a year Mayoral wage is the carrot that attracts the moths to the flame! We as a community have to block this "right of passage"

Then there are the influencers  who model the said candidates- there are a few locals named  but these statements are generic and alarming -

Not one candidate has made climate change / flooding or inundation problems an issue they want to work towards fixing in their council term by saving or planting significant tree stock.
