For those who don't know Roberto Clemente Park, formerly known as Timberline park has been shut down for about 3 years now due to the illegal dumping of garbage with carcinogens and asbestos. About a year and a half ago, the Town of Islip, in partnership with Roberto Clemente Jr. went on record as saying that the town was going to make sure the park was reopened soon and be the best park in the town. Still to this day, 3 years later, there are signs posted that say "active clean up site, but every time my family passes we do not see any activity or progress in this so called clean up and renovation. If you've ever visited or had a good experience at this park please sign this petition to demand to the Islip Town officials and parks department to get together with the public immediately and start the process of reopening our park. From the basketball courts, baseball fields, the pools, trails, and hills for sledding in the snow, Roberto Clemente a.k.a. Timberline Park holds many memories for all of our families and friends.
