The George Washington University has recently hired Heather Swain as VP of Communications and Marketing. Heather Swain, as the VP of Communications for Michigan State University, purposely withheld and buried evidence against Larry Nassar. Prosecutors of the Larry Nassar trial said she "told a trustee to copy in the university's attorney just so the thread could be hidden from investigators". Given her past actions, GW students cannot trust her to keep us safe. Swain's hiring would be offensive and inappropriate at any time, but it is especially so after university administration made a statement in support of students sharing their stories of sexual assault over the past month on social media. Swain and the rest of the MSU administration helped shield and protect a known sexual predator harming students in order to maintain the image of the university. Is that the same sacrifice GW's administration is willing to make?

Join me in condemning the hiring of Heather Swain and asking GW to remove her from her position. There are plenty of qualified candidates that do not have a history of protecting a sexual predator.
