This petition is to urge The Electoral College representatives for the state of Texas to back the American people and elect Hillary Clinton as our next president. This decision would not only continue the betterment of our country but would, also, ensure a continuation of a stable and lasting democracy.

Donald Trump is not fit to be the next president of the United States. He has demonstrated on many occasions that he does not respect the first amendment, our national security, or, indeed, many of the citizens of the nation. From the moment he announced his run for office, the tone of the country changed. He has given a voice to hate groups and extremists. He has threatened his opponents. He has even asked foreign nations to hack government servers. Our country is not only more divided than ever, but there has been an increase in protests, property destruction, and even hate crimes. People are afraid and rightfully so. They feel that their voices went unheard, and the beliefs of a few have changed our country for the worse, making our government and our citizens more vulnerable than ever.

The fact is that a majority of the voting populace voted for Hillary Clinton, but due to a quirk in our system, Trump is now the presumptive presidential successor. While this angers many people, this quirk was created for a reason. Most supporters agree that the Electoral College was created to serve the will of the people AND to protect the country from the possibility of homegrown dictatorship. If this system is not in place to step in when needed, what, then, is the purpose of the system?

Many feel that they already lost. However, the election is not done. The New York Post reports, “According to the Constitution, chosen electors of the Electoral College are the real people who will vote for president when they meet on Dec. 19 in their respective state capitals." This means there is still a possibility for justice. The representatives CAN change the future of the country, and it is their duty to do so.

Therefore, we, the American people, are formally asking the Electoral College representatives for the state of Texas to stand in unity with the will and safety of the public and elect Hillary Clinton as the 45th president of the United States on December 19th.

Being that I am a resident of the state of Texas, I’ve created this petition for the Electoral College representatives of this state. However, the representatives of Arizona, Georgia, Iowa, and Pennsylvania are, also, free by law to cast their votes for the best candidate regardless of their state's turnout, which is why it is imperative that an individual from each respective state creates a like-minded petition to help persuade their representatives to cast their vote for Hillary Clinton on December 19th.

The Electoral College has an obligation to maintain a flourishing future for our nation; anything less would be unjust. Below you will see a link from the New York Post explaining what needs to happen to get Hillary Clinton in the White House.
