Urgently, we need to bring to your attention the ongoing work along the west side of Crestwood Drive since 7 am this morning (4/8/2024). The city has commissioned workers to pave the ditch, effectively creating a third lane, a decision that directly impacts our neighborhood.

We, the residents, had previously requested no parking on the shoulder along the park on Crestwood for several crucial reasons:

• To prevent increased traffic flow through our neighborhood.
• To curb littering and dumping along Crestwood, preserving our environment.
• To maintain safety for pedestrians and cyclists on Crestwood and adjacent streets.

However, the city's decision to introduce a paved shoulder (effectively creating a third lane) will encourage MORE parking along Crestwood, and exacerbate several issues including:

Increased traffic: The additional lane will lead to more vehicles traversing our streets.
Speeding hazards: Cars will bypass speed bumps using the 'third lane', posing risks to residents and pedestrians.
Environmental concerns: The likelihood of increased littering and dumping looms larger.
Safety risks: Both cyclists and pedestrians face heightened dangers.
Property devaluation: This change will adversely affect our property values.

Considering the gravity of these implications, I am contemplating organizing a petition.
