Their Lives Matter: Build a Rescue Centre Now

The Issue

Why this matters?

Did you know that on June 5, 2025, a Right to Information (RTI) reply confirmed there is still no approved wildlife rescue or treatment centre in Gurugram division—even after repeated appeals and years of requests? (Hindustan Times Article)

What’s at stake
This isn’t just a statistic—it directly impacts Langurs, monitor lizards, peafowl and other Schedule I species, many of whom struggle to survive due to lack of medical care, trained support staff, or emergency rescue protocols.

The absence of a proper facility means injured wildlife are left to suffer or die.

Our goal

We respectfully urge the Haryana Forest & Wildlife Department, the Divisional Wildlife Officer of Gurugram, and the Gurugram District Administration to immediately establish a fully‑equipped, government-recognised wildlife rescue and rehabilitation centre, including:

  • A designated facility with separate quarantine units, treatment and recovery wards, and specialized holding areas for Schedule I species.

  • At least one full‑time wildlife veterinarian, trained animal handlers, and 24×7 emergency response protocols.

  • Deployment of mobile rescue units and transport vehicles to respond quickly to injury and conflict situations.

Why now?

1.The RTI admission on January 9, 2024, followed by the unchanged status in June 2025, shows repeated administrative inaction—despite clear legal and ethical obligations.

2.Urban expansion and the Aravalli corridor crisis make Gurugram a hotspot for human–wildlife conflict; the lack of dedicated rescue infrastructure puts people and animals both at risk.

What supporters can do?

A. Sign this petition to show widespread community support.

B. Share with others across Gurugram/NCR, NGOs, schools, and organizations who support wildlife welfare.

We, the undersigned residents, wildlife enthusiasts, and concerned citizens of Gurugram, call upon the Government of Haryana to take immediate, legally mandated action to establish a competent and compassionate rescue infrastructure for injured and vulnerable wildlife.

Thank you for your urgent attention.
