Please understand what has just happened to the most powerful nation in the world. Newly appointed Myron Ebell will be overseeing the EPA, which could spell disaster for our precious environment. According to Wikopedia, Myron Ebell from CEI (Competitive Enterprise Institute) receives funding from the ExxonMobil, the Dow Chemical Company, Eli Lilly and Company, and the Murray Energy Corporation coal mining group and American Petroleum Institute to try to convince the world that fossil fuels do not contribute to global warming. ExxonMobil, even though aware as early as 1981 that fossil fuels affected climate change, began funding Frontiers of Science, where Ebell was a staff member. This is no different than the plastic bag industry hiring lawyers to sue cities trying to convince people that plastic bags don't do damage to environment even though hundreds of thousands of marine mammals die every year by ingesting the plastic. But California is the first state to completely BAN plastic bags because of people who care, like you. Ebell doesn't care.

Research has proven that Fossil Fuels DO have an effect on climate change. Fact: More than 97 percent of scientists agree that the world’s climate is warming and it’s caused by human activities. Yet Ebell believes this consensus of climate experts is “phony” and “not based on science.” (Huffington Post)

Don't believe anyone who tries to convince you otherwise, because they have alterior motives. That's the key word. When someone tries to convince the world that the burning of fossil fuels has no effect on our environment, and big oil companies are funding them, how naive are people to believe them? We - the world - should not allow greed and money to become more important than human life, clean air, and fresh water.

What can you do? Sign this petition.  We want other countries to look up to the United States of America as a leader in reducing global emissions. NO ONE should represent the United States of America who doesn't support protecting the climate we all live and breathe in. Stand up for your rights! Our very existence depends on you. Friends of the Earth said today, "The clock is ticking on preventing climate chaos. Bayer and Monsanto are poised to take control of even more of our food system. And Donald Trump is counting on us to give up and let it happen." They add, "And he’ll undo President Obama’s Clean Power Plan -- all while increasing giveaways to Big Oil and Big Ag. But there’s only so much Trump can do alone."

Trump has called for eliminating the EPA, he has more recently modified that position, saying in September that he’ll “refocus the EPA on its core mission of ensuring clean air, and clean, safe drinking water for all Americans.” How can this be possible when he has put Ebell in charge?  Together, they believe climate change is a hoax, and the fossil fuel industry helps finance his advocacy group! The CEI has a long track record of taking money from the fossil fuel industry. It received $2 million from ExxonMobil from 1998 to 2005, according to Vanity Fair. He is a hoax!  Don't let lies about climate change represent our country! We need to LEAD the clean energy revolution with solar and wind.

The truth couldn't be more clear. 88,000 people had signed a White House petition calling for Ebell to be ousted from his role as Trump’s EPA advisor. “Do not let a man who denies science in the name of profit lead the nation in environmental protection,” the petition reads. 

Now is your time to act America. If there is anything we can do, it's sign this petition now or we are all going to be very sorry we didn't do anything to stop this terrible decision that could impact decisions on wildlife preservation to more pipelines. It's not always about money. Jobs are great, but living and breathing, and drinking clean water is more important to human kind's survival.  There are other candidates who are better suited for this position such as Joe Aiello, director of the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection’s Division of Environmental Safety and Quality Assurance; Carol Comer, the commissioner of the Indiana Department of Environmental Management, who was appointed by Pence; and Leslie Rutledge, attorney general of Arkansas and a lead challenger of EPA regulations in the state.

We MUST join together, combine our strength, and stand proud to protect our precious Earth and all the life it supports. This is so important. Thank you for signing this petition. Our very existence is at stake. Thanks again.
