I hope you're all having a nice weekend, and are continuing to spread the word with this petition. We are currently 23 signatures away from 2,500, and we want to continue to bring the pressure to Disney on Broadway to hear us and give us what we want.
That being said, I reached out to my local NBC and CBS stations in my area with information about the petition, as well as Playbill, Theatremania, and Broadway News. I'm unsure when or if they will get back to me about this petition, but that's not going to stop me from reaching out to news outlets to get more exposure.
That being said, I highly encourage you to reach out to your news outlets in your hometown with information about the petition, and why this would mean so much to you. Here's a sample of what I composed for the news outlets today in my email:
Hi,
My name is Nessa Amherst, and I am an actress currently living in Silver Spring, Maryland. One of my favorite things to do when I'm not on stage is seeing shows, especially Broadway musicals. I was one of the hundreds of fans that were lucky enough to see Frozen the Broadway Musical during its run, and I was hoping to see the show for the third time on 18 March 2020.
Unfortunately, Broadway shut down on 12 March 2020, and several months later, it was announced that Frozen would not be returning to Broadway. Like so many fans, I was saddened when this news was reported, and I was especially heartbroken for the most recent cast members, Ciara Renée (Elsa), McKenzie Kurtz (Anna), and Ryan McCartan (Hans) who never had the chance to perform past the three weeks they were on Broadway and have a proper goodbye.
On 3 July, the award-winning musical Hamilton appeared on Disney+ to record-breaking views and high subscribers to the streaming service. More importantly, Broadway shows are appearing on streaming services like BroadwayHD as a way for audiences to see high-quality shows without breaking the bank and leaving the comfort of their homes. And contrary to popular belief, more fans want to come to Broadway to see the shows in person in the theatre so they can pick up the details that filmed stage productions often miss.
I started a petition on change.org asking Disney on Broadway to create a staged film production of Frozen the Musical with the most recent Broadway cast to premiere on Disney+ so that fans from all over the world can see this terrific show and enjoy the world of theatre. This petition currently has 2,473 signatures.
