We would like to ask all of the Carmel residents who signed this petition, to sign one more petition at www.ceds.org/chna
This latter petition that will go to the City of Carmel leadership. We hope it will have a greater impact by preventing the development of gas stations too close to residential areas, retirement communities, schools etc.
As you may be aware, Brenwick withdrew over summer the application for the variances with BZA (Board of Zoning Appeals) for the gas station.
Unfortunately this doesn't mean that they gave up. It seemed initially that they would go ahead with the project without obtaining those variances, however we have information that they continue to pursue this project and it is possible that they are hitting some snags for now, possibly also hoping that we will stop watching, or remonstrating against this development. They may apply for the same or other variances at a later time. The good news is that there may still be time to plead with the City of Carmel and hopefully uphold some reasonable pollution and architectural standards.
Below is the message from our neighbors who are spearheading this civic alliance, with links for the website and petition. Please do sign this new petition!
