Help stop sex-for-grades in Anambra State University. Sign and bring justice.

The Issue

The revelation made by the BBC documentary has led to widespread exposure of sexual assault in our school, Anambra State University, now Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University. These stories, coming out of the crevices of suppressed knowledge may be old, but no oppression is too ancient to not merit justice.

Certain lecturers have been mentioned over and over again, with a number of ladies recording their ordeal in the hands of these tutors who should supposedly teach them. Telling their stories, you still hear them cry, proving that while these encounters may be months or years old, the psychological trauma, the emotional injury, is very much alive. Our daughters, sisters, nieces, who with hard-earned money, are sent to school to learn and secure their future, but unfortunately, arrive school to meet their doom. Lecturers molest, abuse and prey on them.

While the past is cemented, leaving us unable to change it,  we can at least bring justice for all former victims. More so, we can rid our school of this long-time problem, hence securing the future for our children, grandchildren and the ones that will come after them. Yet we can't achieve that by folding hands and telling our stories of despair as if they are distant-time gossip, but by simply lending hands to this petition, signing it, we can finally, be the change we want. The time is now, sign and bring liberation to our campuses - in Igbariam, Uli and Awka.
