ATTN: Robert T. Schooley, M.D., Editor-in Chief

Dear Dr. Schooley,

Those of us who have studied the mishandling of Lyme disease are convinced beyond the shadow of a doubt that the science along with the diagnostic criteria were manipulated to facilitate vaccine development [1] because a chronic/relapsing seronegative disease [2] did not fit the vaccine model. The false narrative that Lyme is a simple nuisance disease; “Hard to Catch and Easily Treated” [3] has been propagated for three decades by those who stood to profit from the disease while financially supported in the form of Grants and Cooperative Agreements by our public health agencies (CDC/NIH/FDA). CDC Grant# RO1 CK 000152 which appears to be an open checkbook, is just one example.

Of course, any threat to the established narrative is met with staunch opposition as we see in the case of B. burgdorferi infection and possible connection to Alzheimer's disease. Establishing this connection turns Lyme disease into something far more sinister proving that our public health officials have been asleep at the wheel while the disabled patient population and advocacy groups have been shouting from the rooftops for decades. [4]

Patient testimony all across America [5] is describing a disease that is destroying lives, ending careers while leaving its victim in financial ruin while the CDC turns a blind eye to all the horrifying stories documented through the Verbal and Written Public Comments of the Tick-Borne Disease Working Group. [6] Past Co-Chair of the TBDWG, Dr. David Walker referred to persistent infection or Chronic Lyme as a “Religious Belief.”[7]

Two quotes from Dr. Willy Burgdorfer: (discoverer of Lyme disease spirochete)

Prof. Willy Burgdorfer Talks About Lyme Disease
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QLIWSkQdCmU&t=9s

1. “The Lyme disease spirochete is far more virulent than Treponema pallidum. (Syphilis)”

2. “The controversy in Lyme disease research is a shameful affair. I say that because the whole thing is politically tainted. Money goes to people that have for the past thirty years produced the same thing. Nothing.”

As for the Klempner antibiotic trials that claim no benefit from extended courses of treatment, why were these studies stopped after only 90 days? [8] Nine other infections are known to take 6-36mo (or longer) to clear with long-term antibiotics [9] so stopping the trial at 90days is highly suspicious of controlling the narrative while not advancing the science.

My daughter returned to baseline health after 3.5yrs on antibiotics and my wife is well after 2.5yrs on antibiotics so longer courses of treatment for Lyme disease is helpful to some. The Tuttle’s experience with Lyme disease has given us reason to question anything published and/or propagated by our Public Health Officials and those who have refused to recognize persistent infection.

Dr. Schooley, ... none of my letters sent to Clinical Infectious Diseases in the past have been published so I am taking the liberty to self-publish this letter on the Change.org petition calling for a congressional investigation into the mishandling of Lyme disease which has collected over 97,000 Signatures 951,373 Views and 27,324 Shares:
