I am a highly concerned UFV student who is utterly repulsed and frustrated with our university’s continued negligence in protecting their students, staff, and faculty. Rather than demonstrating sound judgement and proactive leadership in exercising solid and safe decision making during times of ample hardship and distress, our university has displayed egregious actions such as being one of the last few post secondary institutions to pivot to online learning (a change actually mandated by the Minister of Advanced Education, and not by UFV itself), as well as the prominent disregard for safety with little health measures in place.

Many are wondering what will cause our university to implement further safety measures, and put the needs and wellbeing of staff and students at the forefront. Student and staff voices are continuously being ignored thus, I hope this can be the push our school needs in implementing further safety and prolonging the start of face to face classes.
