Elections drawn out over two years, a record amount of money gathered and spent, excessive vitriol and division, time, energy and resources, a barrage of trashy ads on TV and signs trashing the landscape, nothing accomplished in Congress during their attempts to keep the president to one term. Instead of focused governance, re-election and fundraising seems the primary focus for every first term president. The money spent is outrageous and the donors and influence are unknown.

EVERY TWO YEARS we go through this in one form or another, if you count the campaigns. It's like a perpetual campaign and it's exhausting and costly for EVERYONE, financially and socially. It has become a machine, it's out of control and it is time to limit the term to ONE 6 YEAR TERM for POTUS.

A president with no prospect of re-election has greater credibility and moral authority, and maybe POTUS and Congress can work together to solve the looming and major problems facing the U.S.A.

Having a single, six-year presidential term means the energy that was once allotted to campaigning for reelection can be directed instead toward issues that actually matter. The President is able to focus on the agenda without the constant burden of selling a public image and competence as a means of maintaining political viability; decisions can be based on the issues in themselves rather than on their political value; and the political opposition has far less incentive to subvert the President’s solution to a problem primarily as a means to feather its own political interests.

For the welfare of the country, make the change.
