The United Kingdom should sell our holding of US Treasury Bonds
The Issue
The United Kingdom as of December 2024 held $722.7bn being the third largest foreign holder of US debt after Japan and China.
The USA has reneged on USAID contract payments and other contract obligations.
We urge that the UK Government immediately review and sell the US Treasury Bonds it holds as there is now a credible risk that the USA will default at great cost to the UK.
