Delete Cyber Bullying: Take the Anti-Bullying Pledge

Delete Cyber Bullying: Take the Anti-Bullying Pledge
The Issue
Stopping bullying/cyber bullying begins at home and in communities. If 50,000+ parents in the State of Texas and beyond take the anti-bullying pledge, school districts, community centers, and principals will have a partner in stopping this growing problem before it starts. Not a parent of a school-aged child? Take the pledge as a community member. Share a video of you taking the pledge with your friends via social media. Don’t agree with some of the words? Personalize it!
Take this pledge for your kids/the kids you love:
I, ________ realize that bullying, harassment and other forms of social exclusion are harmful, whether you are a bully, a victim, or a bystander.
I cannot condemn violence and hate in schools and communities without doing my part to stop bullying and social exclusion in my family and community.
If you are involved in bullying in any way, I pledge that:
1) I will not ignore it. I will not think that you can work it out without adult help. Nobody can.
2) I will remind you that if you cannot stand up to a bully, you must walk away or leave the group. Participation from others, whether online or in person, feeds a bully's ego.
3) I will take responsibility. I will not be "thankful" that you are not the victim this time. There will be a next time.
4) I will give you a safe environment to speak about what you observe. I will role-model being an up-stander, not a bystander who watches while others get hurt.
5) I will remind you that your cell phone is my cell phone and I will be held responsible for what is on it. I have the right to review your texts and social media activity. I will decide on how often is appropriate in our family. This is not because I don't trust you. Rather, because there are some cyber-situations that even the most responsible kids or adults get peer pressured into without knowing the consequences. We are in this together.
WHILE SCHOOLS CAN HELP, I KNOW THE SOLUTION BEGINS WITH ME.
