The emoji of the flag of Galicia does not exist within the list of flags. However, there is that of Wales or Scotland, to mention historical nations that are in turn part of other nations, as in the case of the United Kingdom. Galicia has one of the historical nationalities of Spain, and has been inhabited continuously from the Paleolithic to the present day, with a long history of exchanges with other European regions. Since the 9th century, with the cult of the figure of the Apostle Santiago in the city of Santiago de Compostela, Galicia has become a region of great importance for the ideological strengthening of the Iberian Christian kingdoms during the Reconquest: It is the main religious center and destination of pilgrims, which in turn, strengthens ties with Europe. In this way, the Camino de Santiago becomes a cultural hub through which the Romanesque art or the lyrics of medieval troubadours spread, among others.

In this year of 2021, one of the 15 holy Jacobean years that will happen throughout this century is celebrated. For historical and identity reasons, we believe that Galicia should have its own flag within the available emojis. Although it is known that there are two versions of the flag of Galicia, this request seeks that it is the official / institutional flag (with shield) that is incorporated as an emoji, since there is no restriction regarding its use by the population civil.

Sign this petition so that the flag of Galicia is introduced as an emoticon in social networks and other web portals.
