We live in an extremely complex world, and by focusing too narrowly on specific facts, we risk losing sight of the broader picture.
Many powerful leaders prioritize their own interests over those of their citizens, most of whom simply seek stability, progress, and the chance to live in peace.
As a result of this self-serving leadership, countries are being mismanaged, leading to devastating consequences: thousands of deaths, rising hatred, and a lack of prosperity for ordinary people.
In some cases, the damage extends far beyond national borders, whether through the withdrawal of aid or the deployment of mercenary forces, provoking deaths, starvation, violence and instability abroad.
Worse still, a renewed arms race has begun. Vast sums of money are being diverted from social programs to fund weapons production, preparing for future conflicts that will cost even more lives.
This vicious cycle must be broken before it is too late. While we remain watchful, hoping for better solutions to emerge, a meaningful step forward is to urge the United Nations to actively promote the principles upon which it was founded in 1945. Reaffirming those shared values on a global scale could help rally humanity’s support and present a united front against rogue powers.
