It has come to the students and teachers in Massachusetts’s attention that there’s a schedule change in virtual learning that the state has come up with. This decision wasn’t thought out logically. Students and teachers already using 35+ hours up of screen time with schooling alone not to mention the hours taken up doing homework and extra help. Moreover, this pandemic has had a huge effect on the students mental health and motivation. The mental stability of students isn’t being considered by adding more hours of school. Although we can’t do much as students, I encourage everyone who agrees, to sign this. When you consider the life of others and how everyone’s situation differs, it’s clear that doing school online can also be extremely unreasonable. You can’t show your full potential as a student or teacher with online school. It’s progressively getting more difficult to pay attention to and understand what is going on in class as a student. As a result, our grades are lower than usual and with the lack of sleep and concentration, some students will hardly remember what the lesson was about in a week. I speak for those of us who suffer from ADHD, insomnia, depression, anxiety, headaches, lack of motivation, have a busy life/ siblings to take care of at home, etc. when I say that we are trying. Being a student in the middle of a pandemic isn’t easy. Help us prevent it from being more difficult.
