Hello! My name is Shanacy Densmore. My mother, Tammy Poole, has been wrongfully incarcerated for the past 14 years on charges related to the death of her husband. After years of talking to anyone in the justice department who would listen, we are now stepping out to the public to get her story heard, let EVERYONE know that she is INNOCENT, and help bring my Mother home!

My mother has finally been told that it can be  SCIENTIFICALLY PROVEN the death of her husband was from that of a SELF INFLICTED shot. She has met with a WORLD RENOUND medical expert that determined just that! Furthermore, we are working on getting her story on some True Crime/Wrongful Convictions Podcasts to expand our reach for support!

This case is full of dirty police work, small town politics, sexism, lies and ultimately ends with an innocent woman in prison simply because no one wanted to do the correct work and face the truth!

Here Is My Mother's Narrative:

I have been wrongfully convicted and imprisoned for over 14 years in Georgia, and I want everyone to know, what happen to me could happen to anyone who cannot afford justice.

On April 22, 2007, my husband Michael was threatening suicide. He would often threaten this when he was mad at me or we were arguing. He grabbed his .22 rifle, he first aimed it at me, then he leaned over the gun and pulled the trigger. Two months later I was arrested for his death. I was given a public defender who was Michael's COUSIN by marriage. My lawyer continuously asked me to take a plea bargain. I was offered 25 do 15 and then 20 do 12 for voluntary manslaughter. Then just before my 2008 trial I was offered 20 do 10 for involuntary manslaughter ( this was an Alphord plea, but at the time I had no idea what that meant). I could not understand why they would want me to take a plea for something I did not do. At trial I had no expert witnesses nor a fair shake- A member  of the Jury came foward saying they PERSONALLY had a conflict of interest to this case and the judge did NOTHING; they were free to stay. No GSR(Gun Shot Residue) was found. My lawyer was related to my husband!! The DA, my lawyer, and the Judge would all go to lunch together during the trial! My children were forced testify against me because of past mistakes that had NOTHING to do with the trial-. This small town had me pegged as guilty before Michael took his own life. The injustice is horrifying!

I lost my trial and was sentence to life plus 5 > Now, I understand why people plea to crimes they did not commit. 

A lawyer named Juanita Twiggs took my direct appeal case probono. She was convinced she could help me. Unfortunately, she became very ill and had to recuse herself from my case. My new appellate lawyer was Bill Reilly. He was not as 'involved' or concerned with my case. As a matter of fact, he thought about contacting a forensic medical examiner, but then abandoned the idea. I lost my direct appeal on Nov.12, 2012 in the Supreme Court of GA. 

I have written well over a thousand letters since that time in hopes of someone who could help me prove the truth. In 2014 I contacted forensic scientist Chris Robinson. He remembered my case because he was formerly employed by the GBI. As a matter of fact he testified for the prosecution at my trial! He says quote, "Had your trial attorney asked the right questions, you would NOT have been sent to prison". 

In 2017, well respected forensic medical examiner, Dr. J.C. Upshaw Downs looked into my case. His findings were with absolute scientific certainty, Micahel Poole committed suicide. He came to these finding without ever speaking to Chris Robinson or me. He only used the medical and forensic evidence available. Both experts agree the trajectory was upwards rather than downwards (as the original medical examiner testified). 

I have waited 13 long years for the truth to come out, so I can be returned to my family.

Thank you so much for reading my narrative. This is the first of many writings. I am open to suggestions or questions. The trauma of wrongful convictions must end. We must gather together to make a difference for all of those wrongfully convicted. DNA is not always present for women, so other forensic evidence must be used to prove innocence.

She was forced to miss the last parts of my childhood. Now, she is missing vital years of her grandchildren(6,6&2) growing. She talks to my children EVERY SINGLE day as to make sure they know who she is and that she loves them so very much❤ 

We need the current official( District Attorney in Pickens County) to see her innocence and make the right call for Justice For Tammy Poole!! #SendTammyHome
