Stop the SDUHSD from reopening schools early

Stop the SDUHSD from reopening schools early

The Issue

In the recent SDUHSD Board meeting, the School Board has gone back on their original resolution to keep schools closed through the second quarter. They are now trying to bring teachers back as early as October 29th, middle school students on November 9th, and high school students back on November 16th. This is not an accurate representation of what the students and teachers want. As the school board, it is their job to keep their staff and students safe. By moving up the reopening date, they are putting staff and student lives and the lives of loved ones in jeopardy. Many teachers are nervous and uncomfortable returning to classrooms and were not included in the decision to return. 91 public comments were submitted against the school board reopening while only 16 were in favor and according to a district-wide questionnaire, 57% of responses were against reopening. Sign this petition to prove to the board that with the current health crisis, the district is not ready for students and teachers to return safely.
