The Residents of Milton, Dumbarton
26 ene 2017
Dear Supporters Congratulations!!! We received notification today that the Reporter acting on behalf of the Scottish Government has dismissed quarrier Paterson’s appeal against WDC’s planning permission refusal. You can read the full Decision Notice on the DPEA website (link below) under case reference PPA-160-2917, document ‘Decision Notice - dated 26 January 2017’. It’s a fairly lengthy doc consisting of 19 pages and 112 points including the conclusion. It addresses all of the main points in relation to the environmental report provided by the quarrier’s agents and also takes into consideration OUR and YOUR comments and objections. The points raised by the Reporter by no means all go in our favour but those that do, the most notable are the material visual effect and the material effect on natural heritage as a consequence of the proposed development, the hill and the woodland on it as a considerable presence in the townscape of the two settlements (Milton and Dumbarton), the landscape value as part of the landscape of Milton and as a landscape feature important for the wider surrounding landscape and the potential significant adverse effect on travellers on the railway and A82 (a reference too to the gateway to the Highlands). There is also consideration given to the folklore associated with the hill, and it’s association with Dumbarton Rock and the Kilpatrick hills, which has been considered evidence of the Dumbuckhill’s prominence in public perception. And so much more! We would like to pass on our thanks and gratitude to all of you and your friends for the fantastic support you’ve given us with our petition and hope to see you taking advantage of the beautiful walks around Milton this spring and summer - you’ll be able to enjoy wonderful views of DUMBUCKHILL - THE HILL YOU HELPED SAVE.
