The Class of 2020 has already lost so much from the Coronavirus Pandemic. The class will also loose the precious moment we all though we would never loose, graduation, to a phony filmed ceremony at the schools outdoor lunch patio. The students will be allowed 10 minute time slots and 4 guests, who have to wait in their cars until the filming time. This is not a way of honoring students. There are many ways to go about graduation that include extensive safety measures but Cumberland Academy’s school board refuses to listen to any ideas. Although Governor Abbot declared it safe to hold outdoor graduation and mostly all school in the surrounding area will hold an actual ceremony, the school continues with the filmed ceremony. The class size of this years graduates are right around 175 much less than those school around us holding actually graduation ceremonies. Students will watch their pieced together “graduation” on YouTube... not a copy of their own to keep. Please lend your support and help save the last of our memories as high school students, help us achieve a real graduation, one we deserve.
