Dear Supporters,
If you live in the Haight, Cole Valley, Inner Sunset, or Alamo Square (anywhere in District 5) here's how you can DRIVE CHANGE NOW:
In response to the sanctioned tent site at Haight & Stanyan opening with almost no notice or input from the community, neighbors and local businesses joined to form the group Safe & Healthy Haight. They amassed hundreds of members within a week of their first blog post, gaining major traction and garnering the attention of the San Francisco Chronicle. Their voice is being heard and you can help amplify it by joining here.
The group is focused on holding the city accountable for its promises (closing the site in 3-6 months), ensuring a responsible site management plan (good neighbor policies drafted with input from residents) and making meaningful efforts to decrease homelessness and increase the quality of life for both the homeless and residents of District 5. They've also been instrumental in broadcasting and obtaining the City's attention to the major quality of life issues and driving urgency for action -- for example, moving the Haight & Masonic encampment into the sanctioned site.
To join Safe & Healthy Haight's efforts or learn more, join their Facebook group, register for the email list, or follow them on Twitter.
Thanks,
Arkady Itkin
