Murray Champion started this petition to The Rural City of Murray Bridge

Let's show our support to the Rural City of Murray Bridge for keeping public riverfront in our communities hands and open for our use!

In 2020, following public support the Rural City of Murray Bridge Councillors and staff moved to ensure that the 17 blocks of Wildens Way were protected for public use in the future.

At the moment, the last date existing leases run out is 2061 - yes, its a while away, but in the meantime, already MANY if the blocks are already fully controlled by council hands, which means YOUR hands.

Lets look beyond tomorrow ...

Imagine a riverfront in Murray Bridge that connects Hume Reserve to Tumbella, or maybe even all the way to Swanport Reserve one day.

The skiing, the fishing, the picnics, the relaxing, and general family fun.

Would you hire a kayak? Or visit a Cafe, play in the splash park, run or bike ride along the waterfront ?

NOW is the time to back our Councillors and Council to secure the future of Murray Bridge riverfront, as a destination, and as a place to enjoy living.

The small amount of quick cash offered for a sale, simply cuts short our dream for Murray Bridge!

There are 22,000 people in the RCMB, at the current offer of $4.7 million, it is just an offer of approx $200 to each rate payer in the council to NEVER ever be able to access that area of prime, central riverfront in town EVER AGAIN .... is $200 worth it? ... we say NO .

Is it worth giving up current public space that will be worth three to four times the amount when changed from leasehold to freehold, for a benefit of the few, when we could secure an amazing public use riverfront which will benefit all of us with jobs and lifestyle ?

In the future, earning from leases from tour operators, kayak hirers and cafes ... yes, unexplored ... but it is potentially SO VERY much more!

Please, get involved and have your say making sure that the Rural City of Murray Bridge keeps our public riverfront accessible to us all !
