Free access to research ejournals for teachers

The educational benefits of empowering teachers to be researchers have long been argued by many leading educators and academics such as Dewey, Hoyle, Stenhouse, Hargreaves, Hargreaves, Fullan. 

Successive governments also recognise the educational benefits of evidence-based research and research-informed practice.

Yet teacher as researcher has remained largely a slogan. For many teachers with a strong desire to examine their own practice through research, this ideal is no more than a source of frustration. 

We believe that free access to major research ejournals to all teachers regardless of qualification status is absolutely fundamental to realising this objective. 

If we truly want our teachers to be at the forefront of evidence-based research and to drive improvement in teaching and learning through research-informed practice in global education, it is imperative they can take part fully in educational research and debate. 

Teacher as researcher is key to professional autonomy.
