Stop the war against pigeons! They are beautiful, sentient birds and, like us, they are only trying to survive
Everywhere pigeons are denigrated, belittled, or maligned - in newspapers such as the Daily Express, who recently published a negative article and interview about pigeons, in leaflets advertising pigeon deterrents for the garden, in books, excluding pigeons from descriptions of birds, in negative advertisements on radio and television.
The heroism of wartime pigeons, as messengers, lifesavers and PDSA Dickin medal winners is hidden from public knowledge, and is even excluded from the Imperial War Museum’s new WW2 exhibition, which features a dog who was awarded the PDSA Dickin Medal for heroism, but makes no mention of the 32 heroic carrier pigeons who were also awarded the medal.
Nowadays, pigeons are singled out, kicked and chased in public places. This is incredibly cruel. No child should be taught to hate.
Persecution of any sentient being, such as pigeons, is abhorrent and must be stopped.
Pigeons saved thousands of human lives in war, as messengers. The reconnaissance skills of brave pigeons even enabled the DDay landings to take place.
Pigeons are beautiful birds and are highly intelligent. Pigeon guano makes excellent fertiliser, highly prized by organic farmers and gardeners today. Pigeon houses could be built to provide protection and enable pigeons to have a new role in life, producing guano, for fertiliser.

Whatever has happened to our democracy and our Nation of Animal Lovers if no MP will even bother to defend pigeons? If you can, please challenge this negativity towards pigeons. Tell your MP and other people that pigeons lives matter. They matter to the 12,832 people who have signed this petition.
What use are MPs, if they fail to represent our views in Parliament?
Pigeons pose no risk to human health. Vets and the RSPB confirm this.
Pigeon abuse is just a habit. We want cruelty to pigeons to stop, so that we can all enjoy parks and public places without having to see this horrible abuse in action.
