Why are pigeons abused? Will anyone stop this hatred?
Nobody is doing anything to stop pigeon abuse. Does nobody care? It seems that everybody wants somebody else to do something about it.
“We all stand together against hatred” is the message that huge posters on the London Underground proudly proclaim! Does this include hatred towards pigeons? Let’s also stand together against hatred and persecution of pigeons.
This petition is addressed to the Prime Minister. It has been submitted to him twice, firstly with 10,000 signatures and secondly with well over 10,000 signatures, but he has not replied.
My MP is overseeing this issue, but regardless of my requests, she has not raised it in parliament, or done anything to stop pigeon abuse.
This petition does not yet have 11,000 signatures yet, but it is getting there.
Can anybody who has signed do anything more to stop pigeon abuse? I have written to just about everybody I can think of but I am only one person and the effect of my letters has been unable to solve the problem, so can anybody else help?
I think the problem of pigeon abuse is part of a bigger problem. It could also lead to other forms of abuse.
A former Mayor of London was putting up posters describing pigeons as sky rats in 2002. Children growing up with this message, that it is “OK to abuse pigeons” might go on to abuse animals or people.
What is happening to our country, and our democracy, when pigeon abuse is considered normal and where our petition, of 10,830 signatures, is even ignored by government and the Prime Minister? He has promised “to fight against all forms of hatred and prejudice, wherever they are found”.
Please do something to help, and let us know what you have done. We are stronger together. We stand together against the culture of cruelty towards pigeons. We stand together against this acceptance of abuse!
We want action to end this cruelty. When will we see kindness return?
The idea of providing pigeons with houses, similar to dovecotes, is a good one. Pigeon houses could protect pigeons from harm, give them homes, a safe refuge and perhaps enable them to provide guano, which is highly prized by organic farmers and gardeners today, because it can be used to produce organic fertiliser. Pigeon houses could therefore give pigeons a new status, and a new role in life.

Please share the song with family and friends. There is no need to persecute pigeons. They’ve done nothing wrong, as the song says!
Pigeons helped the allies win WW1 and WW2. They saved thousands of lives. They deserve respect.
