Make pigeons matter much more, MP’s!
MP’s can make pigeons matter much more by supporting any government legislation to stop the abuse and protect them.
A change of heart and a change in the law are needed.
Carrier pigeons saved thousands of human lives during wartime, as messengers. 32 pigeons won the PDSA Dickin Medal for their outstanding wartime service and bravery.
Serving alongside soldiers, sailors and airmen, pigeons carried messages across war-torn land and sea, when all other communication had failed. Flying for hundreds of miles, often wounded, and under enemy fire, they brought hope and saved lives.
In spite of this, pigeons today are abused, often by children encouraged by adults, in full public view. This must stop.
Many people do not even know about the heroism and sacrifice of pigeons in wartime.
Pigeons deserve much better media coverage and full public recognition as our heroes of war. Let’s give them the chance of a good life and a much better public image.
A feature about pigeons in wartime by the Royal British Legion on Remembrance Sunday would greatly enhance their image.

2. Please ask the Prime Minister to make pigeon abuse a Hate Crime. It must become no longer acceptable in our society.
Pigeon abuse leads to abuse of people and animals.
Pigeons are sentient beings. They are beautiful wild birds. They do not deserve to be abused. No living creature deserves to be kicked, chased and bullied.

We need a response from the government to this petition, submitted on 21 September 2021, sixteen days ago.
4. Ask Prince William and Kate to promote kindness to pigeons, particularly among young children. Contact them at the Royal Foundation Centre for Early Childhood:-
Pigeon abuse must be stopped, for the sake of pigeons, and because everyone has the right to enjoy parks and public places, and for these places to be abuse-free.
Let’s stand together against hatred to pigeons.
My petition remains open because its presence on the internet is needed to assist the Prime Minister to achieve the necessary correction of public opinion.
