The early years of a child’s life are crucial for their development. What we teach a child in the early years stays with them.
All parents should teach their children to be kind to pigeons. Pigeons need our respect. Currently, they are singled out, bullied, chased and kicked in parks and public places. This is cruel and shocking to see.
Pigeons are sociable birds and a large flock can crowd around people, particularly if they are providing food. This is the type of circumstance where parents have the opportunity to tell their children not to kick the pigeons. This rarely happens and pigeons are kicked away, unhappy, unwanted and unfed, while caring people look on, askance, unable to stop this cruelty, which is a form of Speciesism.
The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge launched The Royal Foundation Centre for Early Childhood to “drive awareness of, and action on, the extraordinary impact of the early years, changing what we think and do on early childhood, in order to transform society for generations to come.”

Pigeons are beautiful, intelligent birds, who saved thousands of human lives in wartime. They don’t want to be bullied. Let’s give them a good life.

Let’s cut out cruelty to pigeons, and persuade parents to teach children to be kind to them. There is absolutely no reason to persecute them.
