IMPORTANT: The Tappan Zee needs your support! Marc Molinaro, Gov. Cuomo's opponent in the upcoming Gubernatorial election, will be holding a press conference TOMORROW - see details below. He has invited Save Our Tappan Zee supporters to attend. THIS EVENT HAS BEEN CONFIRMED - it's a definite GO! Here are the details:
Marc Molinaro Press Conference:
Will discuss Tappan Zee and other important issues!
Date: Sunday, 9/23/18
Time: 10:00 AM
Location: Scenic Hudson Riverwalk Park - 250 West Main Street, Tarrytown
(overlooking the TZ)
If you have any of our "Save Our Tappan Zee" signs, please bring them along. (Or, make your own?)
IMPORTANT TZ UPDATES:
1. The Molinaro campaign announced a couple of days ago that returning the TAPPAN ZEE name to the bridge was officially added to it's campaign platform.
2. A recent Journal News article reports visible cracks in the old TZ, fueling safety
concerns once again.
3. The Cuomo administration offered "sweeteners" to TZ Constructors (as reported in NY Times, see below) to ensure that the bridge would open by the end of August. Just ahead of the primary, what a coincidence! To add insult to injury, the administration released the contractors from all responsibility related to damages that might occur as a result of continued work after the opening. In other words, the taxpayers would foot the bill. His administration denied all this but the letter obtained by the NYT proves otherwise.

As you know, we are a non-partisan organization and do not endorse candidates.
We endorse a postition: returning the historic Tappan Zee name to OUR bridge.
If and when Gov. Cuomo agrees to support the compromise to rename the bridge the "Gov. Mario Cuomo / Tappan Zee Bridge", we will be more than thrilled to pass that information along to all of you.
For now, we know TWO things with certainty:
1. Marc Molinaro is listening to the people on this issue.
2. Andrew Cuomo is not.
*****************************************************************************************
Save Our Tappan Zee, Inc. is a grassroots, non-partisan, 501 (c)(3) that seeks to restore the historic TAPPAN ZEE name, which predates the founding of our country, to the bridge which has defined the Hudson Valley for decades. In 2017, the bridge name was changed, with no public input, to The Gov. Mario M. Cuomo Bridge. Our petition on change.org has garnered 112,000 signatures and continues to climb. We support a compromise: The Mario M. Cuomo / Tappan Zee Bridge, with no changes to the wording of existing signage. In June 2018, the Senate passed the compromise legislation with Democratic support, 40-20. The Assembly bill was prevented from moving out of committee.
The fight continues.
