Thanks to so many of you for calling your reps in senate and the assembly. Every time we call, we get confirmation that the phones are ringing off the hook! URGENT: We have until the 20th (just TWO DAYS), and our little birds say that a lot can still happen in the senate and assembly in these last two days before recess. So... don't give up yet! Please keep calling assembly members, senators, and in particular, speaker Heastie at 518-455-3791 or via email at speaker@nyassembly.gov It is HE who is apparently holding back the vote. CALL THEM AND GIVE THEM HELL. We have two days! These bills MUST come to a vote! And call the governor too: 518-474-8390 GIVE HIS STAFF HELL AS WELL! Here is a suggested script: “The people were ignored and cast aside when the name was changed in the first place. Now there is a bill in the senate and the assembly to do the right thing: not only give the people the respect they deserve, but to honor Mario Cuomo without dishonoring the Tappan Indians and the Dutch. All while saving countless taxpayer dollars through the avoidance of changing all of the signs. We expect that this bill will come to a vote before the end of session. Further, I and other tax payers expect and will seek confirmation regarding the detailed cost of new Mario M. Cuomo bridge signs to taxpayers, as well as a planned date when new signs for the new Mario M. Cuomo Bridge will be erected, and we expect that those costs will not be passed on to citizens via bridge tolls or paid for through taxes. Until this information is publicly accessible, taxpayers will hold legislators, like yourself accountable. Accountable in the form of no votes for re-election, since you sit and do nothing in the face of great injustice. Further, taxpayers will hold every legislator responsible if the current Tappan Zee signs are removed and/or replaced with new ones during legislative recess (between June 20, 2018 and September 2018).” Now, go forth and make waves people! -Monroe, Cherish, Jimmy, Marlene, Clifton, and Christopher Save Our Tappan Zee, Inc. www.SaveOurTappanZee.org
