Some Tappan Zee updates for you: 1. PROTEST TODAY IN SOUTH NYACK: We have about 25 people signed up to protest today. Let's hope they all show up! :D Or even half... THANKS TO RAY FERRARA: I'd like to personally thank former board member Ray Ferrara for showing up to the protest this past Monday and helping us hold the banner for 3 hours. His participation is proof positive that all that you read in the newspaper isn't always true. You're a good man Ray Ferrara, and we all hope you will be able to show up again at future events! 3. WRITE TO YOUR ASSEMBLYMAN/WOMAN: There is a bill in the Senate now to add the Tappan Zee name back to the bridge, making it the Mario M. Cuomo Tappan Zee Bridge. It's a fair compromise that would avoid changing any of the signs, and would keep the historical name intact. The bill needs an assembly sponsor: if you support this bill, please write to your local representative. NOTE: many of you have voiced requests that we put the name of all legislators with address info on our website. We are considering doing that, and if we do, we will let you know. In the meantime, just do a google search. 4. MEDIA COVERAGE: I was interviewed again on New Rochelle's WVOX radio station by Phil Reisman on Thursday. Did any of you catch it? I spent about 40 minutes on the show, discussing the protests, the bills that are circulating, the progress we are making, and how listeners can help. He texted me afterwards to let me know that he looks forward to having me on the show again soon! 5. TAX-EXEMPTION: Save Our Tappan Zee, Inc. is still waiting for the IRS to make their determination about our tax-exempt status. According to the IRS, our application has been received, and we will hear from them sometime between now and June. Thanks for your patience. As soon as we hear something, we will let you know. 6. SHIPMENTS WILL BE MADE MONDAY: To those who made a purchase of signs, stickers, posters, pens, and/or hand sanitizers in the last 10 days and have not yet received your shipment, thanks for your patience. Preparations for the protests have occupied most of my time, including a trip to Goshen to get the banner fixed because the wind from last week damaged it. Have no fear: I have your merchandise packed up and will be bringing them to the post office on Monday so you can very shortly help us start spreading the word! 7. TRUST: Success in any endeavor is about whether people trust you. That's the way life is. It's all based on perception. However, that perception can mutate, for better or for worse, based on events and/or perceptions of events. For this reason, the board of directors wrote a letter that I am going to share with all of you shortly, to counter the article from a couple of months ago in the paper.
