Greetings Tappan Zeers! (that is my new name for all of you!) I am SO thrilled that so many of you have come to support this cause in such a short time. I thought perhaps that we would reach 446 supporters after a few weeks, but it has happened in less than two days! Thank you for sharing this petition with your friends! Most of you do not know me. My name is Monroe Mann, age 39, son of the former Rye Town Prosecutor Monroe Mann. I was born in Port Chester. After living around the country and around the world, I am again here in Port Chester. I've worked as public defender for Westchester County. I have gone to Playland every summer when I was able. And I have traveled over the Tappan Zee Bridge innumerable times when I served in the New York Army National Guard in Troy. Bottom line: Westchester. Playland. Tappan Zee Bridge. These are TIMELESS names IREVOCABLY associated with our county and state history. Changing the name of that particular bridge is like renaming Playland as Cuomoland or even Westchester itself as Cuomochester. It is THAT serious of a mistake. Your signature means a great deal, absolutely. But what will mean even more? Getting five of your friends to sign, and then when they do, asking THEM to get five of THEIR friends to sign. On one hand, I know that getting the name re-changed will not be easy, and perhaps is "impossible". But I don't believe in impossible. As long as the why is strong enough, the how becomes a lot easier to discover. As the famous saying goes, those who are so busy saying it's impossible are being passed by those actually doing it. WE are those people. We are the ones who have a LOT more power than we realize. Individually, we may not be able to do anything but gripe to our friends. But together, here, as a collective voice, we CAN make the impossible happen. And I am determined to make it happen. I am not here for me. I am merely YOUR mouthpiece. I want to be able to present this petition to the legislature and governor with proof positive (all of your comments) that we want our bridge back. I believe that if we get this petition up to above 20,000 people, news media will begin to take notice. And that will bring more people to our cause. So spread the word! The ONLY way Albany will even consider making the change is through public outcry loud enough to make it a necessity. Keep the faith! And... please continue spreading the word! Post this petition on social media! Text the link to your friends! Thank you again. -Dr. Monroe Mann, PhD, Esq, MBA
