The National Trust should respect drone flyers, for disabled and wider public access.
The Issue
I have struggled with my mental health and have not been able to explore the country for the last few years due to mental health related mobility problems, as I would have liked to. I believe many people suffer with mobility issues that affect their ability to visit these stunning places. Auditing videos are the only thing enabling me to see these historic buildings and explore businesses and the business models that power the running of this country. Auditing videos also enable me to see how people might be treated if they have mental health crises in these places and how much support staff might give if there are difficulties.
I would like organisations to respect the many uses for drones, such as preventing criminality, enabling disabled exploration of property, providing public information and mapping resources, and providing artistic expression of historical architecture.
Large organisations are refusing to update their policies in line with modern technologies like drones, and it is preventing all but the very experienced from being able to document the nation’s history. It is keeping the experience private and enabling less people than it could, and it is causing many sour interactions. The ideal auditing drone interaction involves explaining facts and advertising the organisation's strongpoints, interesting facts, available opportunities, resources that they need, and their funding etc..
This petition is to encourage the National Trust and other organisations to respect the use of drones, and the rights of auditors who most often safely, without breech of privacy, make these organisations and experiences available to us all, a wider public audience.
Please like and share so more people get to experience the educational benefits of audits.
