Keep the HELP Grant in Mississippi. Support Low-Income and Marginalized Students.

Keep the HELP Grant in Mississippi. Support Low-Income and Marginalized Students.
The Issue
The Postsecondary Board has voted to proceed with recommendations to fundamentally reshape Mississippi's state financial aid process, eliminating the HELP Grant along with it. The Higher Education Legislative Plan for Needy Students (HELP) is a critical facilitator for college access and success for students from under-privileged backgrounds in Mississippi. Without it, and in light of the Postsecondary Board's recent recommendations, thousands of students could lose their means to higher education, financial security, and social mobility. All relevant available data show that students with less financial security tend to flourish and attain degrees at higher rates when aided through grants like HELP. By signing this petition, you support the HELP Grant and call on the Postsecondary Board to halt its consideration of this change.
