Thank you to the 1,000 plus caring people who have signed the petition.
Unfortunately there has been no response yet from the Kennel Club.
It appears that despite a recent high profile launch of their Canine Manifesto which included the phrase "Improve the quality of breeding and of the standards that are mandatory", the KC is continuing to ignore the hundreds of emails and comments that they will have received in their Health and Breeder Services.
This proposal is not impossible to implement. The Kennel Club has in the past restricted registration of puppies on health grounds and there are other countries that already have mandatory rules for parents to be heart and SM checked before Cavalier puppies can be registered.
As it is now, even their much promoted Assured Breeders Scheme does not require that breeding Cavaliers are screened for these two distressingly common inherited conditions.
