Staff at Small Heath School, Birmingham have taken a number of days strike action against the threat of their school becoming an academy. Two days after NUT members voted for further strike action management suspended the NUT rep Simon O'Hara. Simon has been at the forefront of the campaign against the school becoming an academy and has also challenged the introduction of unreasonable management initiatives. The NUT believes that Simon has been victimised for his Trade Union activities and we call for an immediate lifting of Simon's suspension and any future threat of making the school an academy.
