It is great to see that our Tourism Industry petition has now received over 1500 supporters in less than a week and without any mainstream media promotion
Now is not a time to put our feet up, we need to continue to advocate for the Tourism Industry that is on it’s knees and will remain to be so until Queensland is re-opened to visitors from the Southern States of Australia.
Between now and then Tourism businesses can’t just stand down all of their employees, and not pay their business costs, because this will mean there are no tours or attractions ready to trade when we eventually hit the tipping point and we start to see border restrictions eased.
We desperately need business and wage support to survive this disastrous situation we are in, through no fault of our own.
Can we do more? Are there any groups that you are involved in that you can share this petition to? Social media groups, friends and relatives, sporting and recreational groups, business association groups, online community groups, Not for Profit Organisations that have a voice...
We need to think outside the square, because as we all know 1 in 5 jobs in Far North Queensland is directly related to Tourism, and then, there are very few other local industries who don’t derive a benefit from a financially functional Tourism Sector across our State.
The Federal Government has announced that it will support a re-jigged version of wage support to help the Tourism Industry get through as long as the State Government agrees to foot 50% of the cost.
It’s time for OUR elected Palaszczuk State Government to listen to it’s constituents and support one of Queensland’s most valuable Industries’ at this time of crisis.
Thank you all once again for your amazing support – Have a Great Day!
