Sarah Ailish McLoughlin started this petition to The Honorable Linda Reynolds (Minister for the National Disability Insurance Scheme)

Underestimation, underfunding and undermining underly the NDIS. Originally estimated at 13 billion per year, recent figures show current costs are 22 billion and climbing.
Fresh leaks expose tactics the federal government are contemplating to diminish NDIS costings. These plans extend beyond the already enforced and controversial independent assessment process. Australia will see drastic repercussions when the governments NDIS cuts hit the pressures already facing Australians and Australian families.

At this time, domestic violence kills one woman per week. If the NDIS were funding assistance for her family, they soon will not. Similarly, many fathers cannot connect with their children; if those isolated children were receiving NDIS support, they soon will not. 85% of autistic children who became homicide victims were murdered by their own families due to carer burn out. If an NDIS funded carer was visiting these children, they soon will not.

We therefore ask the House to;

Cease all discussion of reducing NDIS funding
Cease and reverse any actions that reduce NDIS funding
Simplify the NDIS appeal and tribunal processes
Increase the average Australian person literacy of disabilities
Lower disabled rates of homicide, death, injury and suicide to that of the general population
Lower neglect and abuse of disabled children through increasing external supports within the home environment
Lower carer burn out through increased external supports within the home environment
